Webbling Snow Day

Last week, we had our first (and probably only) sprinkling of snow. Layla, of course, insisted on going out to play as soon as she looked out the window. I was hesitant, as it literally was a sprinkling... and I knew it would mostly mean rolling around in the cold mud and tracking it all back into the apartment after about 20 minutes. However, I couldn't resist the look in her eyes (she's really good at that puppy eyes thing) and I highly doubt she'll get another opportunity to play in the snow this winter. I bundled the girls and myself up, and out we went!
Tesla wasn't quite sure what to make of the stuff- so she mostly ended up just eating it.
I didn't have any snow attire in Tesla's size... so I had to just put her in one of Layla's old snowsuits and jackets. She was just like Ralphie's little brother in A Christmas Story! As soon as I sat her down she just kinda plopped over and couldn't do much about it.
Snow Angels!
She looks like a fat pink caterpillar.
She kept just sticking her tongue out and feeling the cool air, I couldn't stop laughing at her!
Layla thought the icicles hanging off the cars were so neat- she even insisted on keeping this one "for Daddy." It's still in our freezer!
Mommy and the snow bunnies!
Layla saw Tesla eating the snow and figured she should try it too, just in case it was really tasty.
I'm glad I gave in and took them out... even though it was short-lived, they had so much fun and coming inside to hot cocoa and a warm bath just made it even better. Sometimes it's difficult for me to get over my anxieties and just GET OUT of the house, but I'm usually glad when I do. This was definitely one of those times!

Father's Day

I know, I know, Father's Day was forever ago. Get used to certain posts being not so punctual. The little gals keep me busy and uploading pictures in a timely manner doesn't always happen! Anywho, here's a few pictures from a pretty perfect Father's Day.
Layla helped wrap Daddy's present, and decorated it with tons of stickers. She asked Tesla to help, but she was content to watch her sister.

Daddy's present- a framed portrait of tigers made from Layla's handprints.

Daddy's breakfast- caprese eggs benedict!

Springtime at Nana's

This is truly one of my favorite times of the year (other than fall). The weather is just so perfect, and everything is blooming and green and lovely. I'm trying to enjoy being outside with the girls as much as I can before it starts to get hot, because once it does I'm known to retreat to the AC and not emerge again until fall. I hate hate hate being hot and sweaty!

Last week the girls and I took a trip to Nana's to enjoy a lovely spring day in her backyard.
My mom has the greenest thumb of anyone I know, her landscaping looks glorious right now. I wish I had her gardening skills.

My parents moan and groan about all the little mushrooms growing in their yard, but I was running around plucking as many as I could and feeling very Dainty Squid-like.

Some of the cats decided to come join us in the backyard.

My parent's koi pond... it's so fun to throw the fish food in and watch them go crazy!

Poppy even blew up Layla's bouncy house and she wore herself out bouncing for hours!

There's not many feelings better than grass on bare feet in the spring.

Vague Ocuplanes in concert!

Last night I got to go to Baltimore with the Hubby to see his band play! It was so great to hang out with grown-ups for a change and get out of the house. We met up with his band mates and their girlyfriends and headed to Chipotle for some dinner, and then to Baltimore... where Hunter got us lost for about half an hour. When we finally got to the bar and walked in I felt really self-conscious at first because I guess it was a "punk" bar and everyone in it was covered in spikes and leather and leopard print and I felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb in my vintage dress and old lady jewelry. >_< The first show was a rapper who was actually not bad, his first two songs were okay but the third was pretty catchy and I was pretty impressed. Vague Ocuplanes played next and they were great! It was the first time I'd heard them play with their singer, Gabe. The poor guy was actually really sick but he sang well and the show was excellent.

I really wanted to get a picture of my outfit (I won't even bother being humble, I looked good, ha) but about halfway through the show I experienced a "nursing mommy malfunction." Yeah. I was standing with my arms crossed and when I uncrossed them I realized the arm of my cardigan was wet and at first I was like "what the heck" and then I realized that I had leaked through my dress really bad and was soaked with milk all the way to my waist! Luckily my dress was dark gray and it was dark in the bar but by the time we got home from Baltimore I looked like I'd had a bucket of water thrown at my front! So, no outfit picture, but here's a headshot and a picture of my nails that I was SUPER proud of.
