What I Wore: Boho Kind of Day

maxi skirt // thrifted
vintage button-up // thrifted (and borrowed from Husband...)
cardigan // Old Navy
infinity scarf // gift from Sister in law
moccassins // Minnetonka
deer ring // Target
bracelets // handmade gifts from Brother in law

I've said it before, I'll say it again- I am a hippie girl at heart. There's something so familiar and easy about throwing on a flowy peasant skirt, especially now that the whole maxi skirt look is in style! And I seriously take advantage of any opportunity to wear my Minnetonka boots- I just love them. I've had them for about seven years now and they still look new (except for the lace that I broke the other day... my bad). I've been totally forgoing straightening my hair for awhile now and I'm actually starting to like my hair again... people, if I ever mention being tempted to cut my hair again, slap me. I am so much more comfortable with long hair and I always forget that! I can't believe it's Friday again already- this week flew by! Happy weekend, folks!

What I Wore: Black & Grey Snow Day

pea coat - Old Navy
infinity scarf - gift from my sis-in-law
fingerless gloves - Target
gray cardi - found
vintage dress - thrifted
gray over the knee socks - H&M
wellies - Target
bag - yard sale
bug brooch - yard sale

I've been making a bigger effort lately to actually attempt to look fashionable again. I wore this to a housewarming party, and we had a babysitter, so I took advantage of the opportunity to wear a dress! I know that's weird, but when you have to nurse a baby every few hours or so, a dress is usually not an option. I have a pretty great collection of brooches and I don't actually wear them as often as I should. I scored this one in a bag of assorted jewelry at a yard sale and thought it was pretty unique. It's unfortunately missing a wing but I don't think it's terribly obvious. It was so, so cold this day- I actually had fleece-lined tights under my socks! I've been skipping the hair straightener lately, what do you guys think? Hope everyone is having a fabulous week!

What I Wore: That 70's Shirt

Hey folks! First off, my apologies for the disappearance! I'm still not quite 100%, but hopefully I'm on the upswing.
vintage top - gift from a friend
super huge flares - thrifted
sandals - Payless
vintage bag - yard sale
earrings - H&M
bracelet - made by my brother in law

I am in love with my new vintage shirt! A lovely friend of mine from church gifted me with some vintage goodies from her personal collection and this shirt fit just right. As fond as I am of the many vintage eras of clothing... I'm just a 70's girl at heart. I find that I always feel most comfortable in my hippy dippy style!

I'm SO SO SO stoked for fall! Seriously, I can't even convey how happy I am. The weather is finally cooling off, and it feels great. We even turned off the AC and opened the windows instead and I'm loving it. Also, the jeans I'm wearing here? First time I've been able to wear jeans since having Tesla. They're the largest pair I own and I've tried them on about once a month since she was born and the other day they slipped right on and buttoned comfotably! Huzzah!

Thank you, Sugarlips Apparel!

A while back I was sent an invitation to apply to Sugarlips Apparel's Blogger Partnership Program. I figured it was worth a shot, so I filled out the application. I didn't hear anything back, so I assumed I had not been chosen because my blog is still fairly new, and not as heavily focused on fashion as a lot of other blogs. But lo and behold, last week I checked my mailbox and was ecstatic to find a lovely dress I had chosen as one of my favorites from Sugarlips website!

So here I am sporting my sweet new dress, all gussied up for a birthday dinner with the husband! I'm pretty pleased with it. It's super duper comfy and cool, which was perfect, considering it was 108 degrees this day! I love the colors and the asymmetrical hemline.
purse - vintage, thrifted
sandals - Payless
necklace - Premier Designs
bracelets - no idea >_<
feather fascinator - Urban Outfitters

And here's my third submission for I'm Proud of My Size:
Folks, I highly recommend you check out this fantastic line of clothes! It was really tough for me to choose my favorite! I'm wearing the Winter Sherbert Dress. Also, if you're interested in the blogger partnership program, you can apply here!

What I Wore: Tickled Pink!

My submission for this week's link up on Rachele's blog. I am proud of my size!

vintage dress - thrifted
shoes - belonged to my momma
necklace - flea market
earrings - flea market

I'm so thrilled to death about this dress! I picked it up at the Salvation Army about a month ago, though I couldn't wear it right away (my post-baby boobage was a little too, ahem, boobalicious). It's still a bit snug in the bosoms but I think it must have been made for someone not quite as curvy as me. It fits so perfectly aside from that, and it's so flattering! And anything that's nursing accessible is a super huge plus.

My shoes belonged to my mom in the 70's. I don't wear them very often because while they're awesome and match with everything, I have a hard time wearing shoes that are even the slightest bit pointed. My "had none" toe on the right foot always ends up getting smooshed for some odd reason. In fact, I ended up switching to sandals not long after I had snapped these pictures. I usually don't even like to wear anything other than sandals unless it's freezing out, I pretty much ALWAYS have hot feet, yuck!

My necklace and earrings were snagged from the local flea market. They're both antique and in spectacular condition. I don't often wear the necklace because I'm so afraid of it getting hurt, which is something I wish I could get over... I'm not a materialistic person but I am really overprotective of my "stuff." I love these earrings, they're those nifty old-fashioned ones that screw on instead of clips. I have pierced ears but these are just so nifty! And they're actually really comfortable because you don't have to screw them on tight for them to stay put and I don't know about everyone else, but if I wear clip-ons, they don't stay on long because they start to pinch so bad! >_<

Hope everyone has a fantastic 4th tomorrow! I'm excited to see all the patriotic outfits I know will be floating around the blogosphere. I know I have mine all planned out already- and the girls have matching dresses JUST for tomorrow! Not that we'll be doing anything terribly important, I plan to stay in the AC as much as possible, it's going to be a scorcher tomorrow!

What I Wore: Heat Wave

sunglasses - thrifted
earrings - yard sale
deer ring - Target
striped top - H&M
dress - Old Navy
shoes - thrifted

Whew! It's been a serious scorcher of a week. It's the kind of heat that makes going outside totally unbearable. I almost didn't even take these photos. I hate, hate, hate getting sweaty, and it's so hot that even stepping outside for a moment causes me to sweat like a dude! (Sorry, that's gross!) Anywho, I also didn't want to waste a cute outfit so I braved the elements and snapped a few very quick photos outside of my parents house!

I didn't actually wear this for anything important - just a trip to the grocery store! I know this is probably overdressed just to go grocery shopping, but I spend most of my days in t-shirts and yoga pants, and sometimes I just can't stand being such a slob anymore! I used to make it a point to get dressed up nearly every day but with two little ones, it's just a hassle most of the time! My selection of what to wear is also pretty limited at the moment, between most of it not quite fitting and having to wear something that has easy access for nursing. (I really miss being able to just throw a cute vintage dress on!) Originally when I put this on I thought it would be easy enough to nurse in but it ended up being a huge pain! Oh well.

I'm also sporting a new do! I had my mom go ahead and cut my hair into a nicely layered bob (I wanted something along the lines of this). I'm still working on styling it the way I want, but it's not half bad! I think I'll like it a little more once it's grown out a bit... and I would really like to grow it back out LONG. I miss my super long Zooey Deschanel hair so bad! I'm considering coloring just the blonde part of my bangs in a wild color, like teal perhaps... should I take the plunge??

Before I scoot, here's my post for Rachele's "I'm proud of my size" link-up. If you haven't already heard about it, please check it out! She's fantastic and amazing and this link-up has been a huge source of inspiration and a big confidence booster for me personally!

Toodles for now darlings!

What I've Worn

While perusing some of my old outfit photos, I decided to throw together a little peek at some of my favorite ensembles from the last five years or so.

It's funny to see how one's style evolves over time, as well as how a lot of it remains the same. While I chose to only show off some of my favorite outfits, there were quite a few that made me wonder what I was thinking at the time! For the most part I just wished I still had, or could still fit into a lot of the things I once wore. Like the awesome cardigan in the first picture- I still have it, but it would probably fit Layla better than me (I accidentally shrunk the heck out of it)! And the crazy awesome print dress in the third picture... I sold it to someone a few years ago, but now I'm wishing I'd hung onto it!

What's your favorite thing you've ever worn?

What I Wore: Family Day

top - H&M
skirt - thrifted
sandals - thrifted
headband - Target
fox earrings - gift from Hubby

I'm still getting used to this new post-baby body (especially the huge boobs, ha). While browsing Sam's Club the other day I spontaneously picked up something called "the subtracter" and it was pretty much the best $12 I ever spent. It's essentially just a girdle (shudder) but it's relatively comfortable, helps my posture, and makes it possible for me to fit into things I wouldn't be able to without it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with being a curvy gal and obviously having two darling babies is worth it. It's just taking some getting used to. It's not easy going from a size 5 to not even being able to squeeze into a size 10. Not to mention having all those lovely pre-baby vintage dresses in my closet mocking me.

Oh, high-waisted jeans... how cruel you are.
Hopefully Just Dance 3 and NO SODA will get me back in those jeans someday.

What I Wore: April Showers

dress - thrifted
cardigan - gift
wellies - target, gift from the hubby
necklace - flea market
ring - belonged to my grandma

I can't even begin to describe the joy I felt when I found this dress! I'm still working on losing the weight I put on while pregnant with Tesla so 90% of my wardrobe doesn't fit right now and I usually just end up wearing sweatpants or (cringe) maternity pants. I've been missing my vintage dresses that are currently all packed away so it's nice having something pretty to wear in the meantime!

I wish I'd gotten a picture of Layla's outfit too... it was a mini version of mine! She looked so cute in her little vintage floral dress, cardigan, and polka dot wellies... I asked if she wanted her picture taken but she was preoccupied with watching TV and kept saying "maybe later."

The day this was taken I had just gotten back from the salon to get blonde bangs and I was trying to take a picture of them and noticed later on that Layla is photobombing every single one from the backseat!

And apparently Tesla is a little photobomber in the making as well.

Hope you enjoyed my first post! :)
